The Spits Punk Albums

The Spits are an American punk Seattle-based band that is known for their underground, garage punk sound and their scenic appearances.

The band has released four albums. The albums are all officially self-titled, but unofficially each one has a different name. One record is entitled '1,2,3, Vol. IV' and is was released by four record labels: Nickel and Dime Records, Dirtnap Records, Slovenly Recordings and Thriftstore Records, which is the band’s own label. By self-producing and self-recording their albums, The Spits want to keep the DIY punk philosophy alive.

The Spits also released a singles album, in 2001, called 19 Million A.C. 7’’. The band members declared that they don’t consider themselves a musical band, but a gang of friends that have something to say. Big fans of the DIY punk movement, The Spits have produced most of their records and have played shows in basements and garages. Band members don’t care if they sell records; the important thing for them is to play music.

The Spits have a specific stage wardrobe; sometimes they appear in Ronald Reagan masks, toilet paper mummies and graduation robes. They usually focus on playing raw, low-budget, dirty and underground garage punk. The band also has a history of selling self-produced merchandise like t-shirts. They are against tight jeans, shaggy hair, pop culture and shirt ripping in concerts. All their discography is very aggressive and straightforward, whit most songs being compared to those of famous punk legends NOFX.

The Spits have a decade of musical activity, playing all over American in underground music festivals, punk gatherings and local basement and garage gigs. They’ve also played around Europe and released a 2006 European Tour LP, produced by their own record label in collaboration with P. Trash Records. The Spits have produced over 100 songs and continue to keep the DIY ethic alive.
